SHADOW TOWN a theatrical production based on interviews of those involved with sex trafficking in Chicagoland.
SHADOW TOWN - a place where young girls are bought and sold like a product over a counter. You never saw them? Invisible...a shadow in the night, in the light...365 days a year. They are there...on your street, by your hotel, the business in your local mall, around the corner....your neighbor.
They come from Chicago, Napervile, Danville, any ville.
They are the young women and children who have been brainwashed, life threatened, brutalized, drugged and beaten into the modern slavery of sex trafficking.
They are your little sisters, cousins, aunts, daughters, classmates, friends, next door neighbors...and they desperately need your help.
After a year and a half of research and interviews, Mary Bonnett, Artistic Director, Her Story Theater, wrote and created SHADOW TOWN based on dozens of interviews from people involved with sex trafficking in the Chicagoland aread including undercover detectives, caseworkers, FBI, vice squad, parents, pimps, therapists, and trafficked girls and young women of Chicago.
Join us, in this beautiful and very stirring piece of theater...join us to support the end of sex trafficking in Chicagoland's SHADOW TOWN.
A few facts...Sex trafficking is a $32 billion dollar business. The second largest in the world.
Average age of a trafficked girl is 11 years old. Help us end it today.
OUR PARTNERS...proceeds from the play benefit....
Both models combat the sexual trafficking of our children. The Salvation Army - PROMISE program established Anne's House, long term residential care for sex trafficked girls, ages 12-21. The Dreamcatcher Foundation offers hands-on rescue and placement for recovery. Both programs save young women's lives.
